Welcome BHS Class of 77'!

Wow... thanks to our sweet departed classmate Marie Simeone-  we now have a place to hang, share, laugh and enjoy the ties that have bound us together for over 30 years!  She talked about doing a blog many times to me and it was my bittersweet pleasure to get things rolling.  Her loss as a sister, aunt, teacher, mentor and friend is far reaching.   My hope for this communication is that it captures not only special times we all have ahead but difficult and challenging times as well... and every day thoughts, concerns and observations so we can make this as memorable an experience as knowing Marie was.  Here's to Marie F. Simeone!!
May I begin?

Greetings from Montana!    Yep!   Big Arm, Montana ... yes, after many years in CT-  Berlin from 7th-12th grades, then UCONN/Storrs then off to Darien, CT to work for just over 26 as a nanny/chef and personal assistant to the rich and not so famous.   I fell in love and decided to seek out my new chapter out west.   The views are incredible and the pizza sucks!  But I am enjoying the new pace of my life and what lies ahead.

Hey Line! Congratulations on falling in love and the big move. That will keep you young...
I don't have anything that fantastic to share. My biggest news is that my middle daughter, Katie just got her driver's license. I now have two teenagers driving. The gray hairs are coming in faster than I can keep up with them.
Was sure nice to hear from you. I wish you good health and much happiness in your new life out west.

Thanks Nancy!

Two kids driving? Yikes! It is such a different world now. Two months after I got my license in June 75'- my parents let me and Carol Regan drive to Maine and back alone for a week's road trip to see family- but still!! Can't you get arrested now for such behavior? We had a sign of the side of my beige VW- Maine 75' or Bust! We had just enough money for gas and to each get 2 Bavarian Cream donuts at Dunkin Donuts each morning. We had the best time and really it defined my future love of travel and enjoying the twist and turns along the way.

I see we have a few people that have accepted the BHS 77' blog invite- thank you and check in when you can to let us know what is going on in your lives.

Restaurant and movie reviews are also welcomed!...I have one. I had to kill time before picking up my cousin Michel (who drove all my stuff out here from CT via Montreal and has decided to stay- it's been great to have a slice of the familiar here with me through all this change) at the airport the other night so we went to see''' Semi-Pro with Will Farrell- don't bother- except for the great soundtrack- it sucked! But I loved the skating and race car movies he did- along with a cool independent film he did called "Stranger Than Fiction"- rent that one!

Montana continues to be the polar opposite existence I had in Fairfield County, CT. I don't work, I see no kids, I haven't been to a dry cleaner once, I am hardly in my car except for day trips to do errands, when my cell phone rings I don't dread answering it, I sleep 9 and 10 hours a night instead of 6 or 7. I had no idea how hard I worked until I stopped! I do still cook every day but that is a love that I was just lucky to get paid for along the way.
And to be sharing my life again with someone who appreciates my attention to details while he pays attention to the big picture just makes sense. Peace is so important as we go along here in life... isn't it?
Bye for now...

Hello Ladies!!

Congratulations on your retirement-does that mean you're old??? I don't plan to retire but I will take a job that only requires me to be there two or three days a week for four hours!I like to work-I like the interaction with people-I like to have a daily purpose although 8 to 9 hours of sleep a night would be really nice. I'm in bed 8 to 9 hours a night but there always seems to be 2 to 3 hours that I lay awake considering all of the challenges in my life. I speak to Susan dinda on a regualr basis and we often talk about our experience with Marie at the Berlin Fair last October just weeks before here death. She was full of life-laughing, joking, telling stories about her life, we both still can not believe we had time with her just before she was gone. For us, it was a blessing and it seems that she continues to look down on us and smiles. Thats the way I want to think about it.

I don't get the whole thing about moving around the stae or country because I have lived on the same street my whole life. I travel quite a bit for work but there is nothing like coming home to the village of East Berlin.

I hope everyone that reads this is doing well!!

My Best!

Mark

Hi Mark!

Thanks for contributing! You will be a great ally to keep this Berlin blog going... we both spill whatever is in our heads and hearts at the time and so be it.

I think emotional connections are important- especially with old friends. We don't have the luxury of hanging out endlessly like we use to- but we can all be there for each other just the same...

Hi,
Line I'm sorry I haven't responded sooner but I opened the e-mail and looked at it quick and said oh, I'll get back to that later. Well it's later. Sounds like you are adapting nicely to your new home!
Nancy I know the feeling two driving and two looking at going to collage next year. I can't beleive they ever got out of diapers and know they are part of the BHS class of 2008. Class of 77has a much better sounding ring to it. Take Care for now!

Hello Everyone!

My son Jack starts high school tomorrow. I've been reminiscing with friends her in New Hampshire
and googling to find some that I haven't spoken to in a very long time.

Yes, I know I missed the reunion. I just had returned home from my life long dream trip to Italy and was too tired (read old)

I was so sad to find out that Marie passed away. We had lost touch after reunion xxxx??? She'll be with us forever. Driving around Berlin and drinking cheap beer. Or was it Sloe Gin Fizzes at Frank's?

I also just emailed with Mrs. Miklos. Anyone have her for Freshman English? Her class was so hard and I hated it. But looking back, she taught me the most and I use those grammar skills every day. I wanted to say thank you, so I tracked her down (yes, love, google) and made her day.

I still have red hair thanks to my hairdresser. My son gets his learners permit next year.

Montana? It must be love.

New Hampshire got back to it boring self once the primaries were over. My son calls it home since we moved here when he was 1.
I'm raising ESPN boy, all sports, all the time. Football, Hockey and Lacrosse.

I got my license and my first job at Kensington Cinema. I would stop at McDonalds and get a burger, fry and soda for 87 cents. Remember, change back from your dollar.

That's it for my ramble....

Fond memories of the class of 1977
